Athena Band Students Honored

Four Athena band students participated in the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Solo Festival this past weekend held at Odyssey Academy.  All of these students performed solos, played scales from memory and sight read music in order to be considered for selection in to Area-All State or Conference All State music ensembles in the fall.  All 4 students played very well and are all eligible to be considered for these prestigious ensembles next school year.  The students played the most difficult level solos possible, NYSSMA Level 6, and their scores were out of a possible 100 points.  Those students are:

  • Frankie Niven, flute: 99
  • Olivia Dorschel, clarinet: 95
  • Frank Messina, french horn: 100
  • Rachel Wallmann, marimba: 98

Congratulations to these incredible students!
