Check out this incredible school website. The Brookfield East High School staff has agreed on several “Collective Commitments” or instructional non-negotiables that drive a systematic approach to school improvement and learning for all students.
They have aligned skill based instruction across classrooms along several critical components including an emphasis on the following: writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading and note taking. They have numerous graphic organizers to support and align instruction in each of these areas that can be downloaded off the website.
By aligning how they teach these foundational skills across all classrooms with research based best practices, they are creating learning synergy for their students and are able to spend more time focused on an analytical approach to learning the content as the skill development has become a shared burden rather then a unique challenge in each class.
