As the start of the school year approaches, plans for Opening Day Ceremony are moving forward. The event will be held at the Athena Performing Arts Center. The date is Tuesday, September 6 and there will be two sessions:
- Session 1 8-10 a.m. – Instructional Staff (Use your discretion in determining who is instructional staff.)
- Session 2 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Support Staff (Optional only for those staff for which September 6 is not a paid work day.) PLEASE NOTE: Past support staff sessions have not exceeded an hour but this year’s program will run close to two full hours.
A 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. shuttle bus will be run from each school site for Session 1. Session 2 attendees will be asked to drive themselves. Both sessions will hear the same message, which will include a presentation by Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams and a keynote address by Dr. John Hodge, President of Urban Learning and Leadership Center (ULLC), an organization focused on student achievement and reduction of the achievement gap.
