Check out this great video on a teacher using differentiated instruction to help all students master a close reading activity. He uses a common protocol and language, with varied levels of supports to get all students through the same complete text. He “differentiated the task, not the outcome” (definition of differentiation used by Stefanie Loggins, CFO of Expeditionary Learning). Although it is an elementary school, the concepts are outstanding.
